Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what data Glipsy collects when you use our browser extension and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at support@glipsy.com.
What we collect
- Account data. Your email address and a hashed password (or, if you sign in via a third-party identity provider, the basic profile data they share with us).
- Audio you record. When you use speech-to-text, the audio you record is sent to a third-party speech provider for transcription. We do not store the raw audio after transcription completes.
- Text you select for playback. When you use text-to-speech, the selected text is sent to a third-party voice provider to be synthesized. We do not store the text after synthesis completes.
- Usage metadata. Counts of seconds transcribed and characters synthesized, used for billing and to enforce plan allowances. We do not store the contents.
- Billing data. Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly; we receive only the last four digits, expiration date, and a tokenized reference.
- Diagnostic logs. Crash reports and basic error logs from the extension, used to fix bugs.
How we use it
We use the data above to operate the extension, transcribe and synthesize on your behalf, bill you accurately, respond to support requests, and prevent abuse. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your audio, text, or usage data to train models.
Third parties
Glipsy relies on the following processors to deliver the service:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Speech-to-text provider (e.g. OpenAI Whisper) — transcribing your audio.
- Text-to-speech provider (e.g. ElevenLabs) — synthesizing voice from text.
- Authentication provider — handling secure login.
- Cloud hosting — running the API and website.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
Retention
Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and for as long as required by tax and accounting laws after closure. Audio and text content is not retained beyond what is needed to complete each transcription or synthesis request. Diagnostic logs are kept for up to 90 days.
Your rights
You can request access to your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or export a copy of it by emailing support@glipsy.com. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / CCPA, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Cookies
Our website uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced by email or by a notice on this page.
