A Wispr Flow alternative for the browser
Prices and platform support checked September 30, 2026
Wispr Flow is a very good dictation app. If you dictate into Slack, Word and a terminal all day on a Mac, it's probably the right pick and this page won't change your mind.
Glipsy is for the other case. Most of your typing happens in a browser tab. You're on Linux or a Chromebook, which Wispr Flow doesn't support. You want the text read back to you, not just typed. Or you'd rather not pay $144 a year for dictation.

Pick Wispr Flow if
- You dictate into native apps: Slack, email clients, your editor, a terminal.
- You want to edit text by voice, or a personal dictionary that syncs to your phone.
- You need a team plan or HIPAA paperwork.
Pick Glipsy if
- You're on Linux, a Chromebook, or a locked-down work laptop that allows extensions.
- Most of your typing is in a browser: AI chats, email, docs, forms.
- You also want text read back to you, with each word lit up as it's spoken.
- $3 a month sounds more like it.
How Glipsy works
- Click into any text field. Double-tap Shift, talk, double-tap Shift again. The words land where your cursor was, with punctuation.
- Select any text on any page and double-tap Shift to hear it read aloud.
- On DeepSeek, Kimi and T3 Chat, every reply gets a read-aloud button and code is read out as words.
Questions
Does Wispr Flow work on Linux or a Chromebook?
No. Wispr Flow's own system requirements list Linux, Chromebooks and virtual machines as not supported. Glipsy is a browser extension, so anywhere Chrome or Firefox runs, it runs.
Is there a Wispr Flow Chrome extension?
No. Wispr Flow is a native desktop and mobile app. Glipsy is the extension: it adds voice typing to any text field on any website, in Chrome and Firefox.
Is Glipsy cheaper than Wispr Flow?
Yes. Wispr Flow Pro is $15 a month, or $12 a month billed yearly. Glipsy is free to start, then $3 a month for Plus or $6 for Pro.
Can Glipsy replace Wispr Flow completely?
Only if most of your typing happens in a browser. Glipsy doesn't work in native apps. What it adds that Wispr Flow doesn't have is read aloud with word highlighting.
